When does January transfer window 2023 close for Manchester United and Man City?

Manchester City and Manchester United have both been at the centre of transfer speculation this month.

United are in the midst of a complete rebuild. Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic and Edinson Cavani all left the club in the summer after their contracts came to an end, though new boss Erik ten Hag recruited well in his bid to replace those who left Old Trafford.

Experienced heads such as Casemiro and Christian Eriksen have entered the fold, whilst Antony, Tyrell Malacia and Lisandro Martinez have all joined to create a more penetrative United side. The mid-season loan signings of Wout Weghorst and Jack Butland have helped to offset the departures of Cristiano Ronaldo and Martin Dubravka.

Meanwhile, City were also busy in the summer market, with Erling Haaland's arrival stealing the majority of the headlines. They haven't been too active in the mid-season window, though Joao Cancelo's loan departure to Bayern Munich certainly took most people by surprise.

So, when does the January transfer window close? Let's take a look:

When does the January transfer window close?

The January transfer window will close at 11pm on January 31. This means that clubs will no longer be able to complete deals once the hour is up.

Only deals that have been granted an extension - usually an hour, or two hours at the maximum - are allowed to go on late into the night to find a solution.
