How many times have Ireland won the contest?
For a small country we sure are successful as Ireland has won the Eurovision seven times and is the only country to have won three times in a row.
When did Ireland last win?
Ireland last won the Eurovision in 1996, which is a whole 26 years ago!
What years did we win?
Since Ireland first entered the song contest back in 1965, and with the luck of the Irish, the country has been champions in 1970, 1980, 1987, 1992, 1993, 1994 and 1996.
Who are all the winners?
Ireland's seven wins were achieved by Dana with "All Kinds of Everything" back in 1970, Johnny Logan with "What's Another Year" in 1980 and "Hold Me Now" in 1987.
Linda Martin won with her iconic song "Why Me" in 1992 and Niamh Kavanagh won with "In Your Eyes" in 1993.
Paul Harrington and Charlie McGettigan were successful in 1994 with "Rock 'n' Roll Kids" and in 1996 Eimear Quinn won with "The Voice".
Johnny Logan still remains as the only performer to have won the contest twice and he also wrote the 1992 winning entry.
Have Ireland been unsuccessful in the contest?
Ryan O'Shaughnessy was the last Irish entry to actually reach the Eurovision final back in 2018 and he finished in 16th place, so the pressure is really on Brooke Scullion this week.
Since the introduction of the semi-final round back in 2004, Ireland has failed to reach the final nine times.
Even Nicky Byrne from Westlife failed to qualify for the Eurovision song contest's grand final back in 2016 - which broke our hearts.
The nation finished in last place in the final back in 2007 and 2013.
And Ireland's only top 10 result in the last 14 contests, from 2007 until 2021 is Jedward's eighth place back in 2011.
