When Brendan Rodgers will meet his Celtic squad as timeline 'revealed' for pre season sitdown

Brendan Rodgers is back in the dugout at Celtic after a whirlwind couple of weeks at Parkhead but may have to wait to get his new squad together.

First the retaining Scottish champions secured a domestic treble under sought-after boss Ange Postecoglou who was appointed the manager of Tottenham Hotspur mere days after the Hoops saw off Inverness Caledonian Thistle at Hampden. The rumour mill spun around before it was made clear that former gaffer Rodgers would once again step in to the hot seat in the east end of Glasgow.

It was confirmed the Northern Irishman would return to become manager on Monday as he prepares to reacquaint himself with the goings on at Lennoxtown ahead of a Champions League assault and a title challenge with a new-look Rangers under Michael Beale. And while the Scottish national team have provided more than their fair share of thrills during the break of domestic football, the 50-year-old will be getting his ducks in a row in rapid fashion.

According to the Scottish Sun, it won't be until July 3 before Rodgers meets with his new squad, with players on international duty and some enjoying downtime on holiday. There will be a few familiar faces for the new boss to rekindle with, including club captain Callum McGregor who played an integral role in the seven trophies the Northern Irishman won during his first spell in charge.

Celtic will get their defence of the Premiership underway at the start of August, and won't have to engage in Champions League qualifiers this time round due to their title-winning success.
