After a four month delay, the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards will finally be held on Monday (January 15).
Although nominations were first announced back in July, the ceremony was postponed due to the Hollywood writer and actor strikes.
When the nominations for the Emmys were revealed last year, HBO came out as a clear winner: the top three most nominated series all belonged to the American network.
Succession received a whopping 27 nods, The Last of Us received 24 and The White Lotus wasn’t far behind with 23 nominations.
Incredibly, every single actor in the running for a Best Supporting Actor award is also from one of the two TV shows.
It’s a similarly picture in the Best Supporting Actress category; only The Crown’s Elizabeth Debicki and Better Call Saul’s Rhea Seehorn have been invited into the otherwise Succession and White Lotus-crammed line-up.
Meanwhile, Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, the lead actors in the post-apocalyptic drama, The Last of Us, are also both in the running for a lead actor award.
While many Succession and The White Lotus fans were gleeful about their show’s apparent supremacy, many of those who had tuned in to Dead Ringers and The Patient felt understandably hard done by, with little recognition for those series at this year’s award ceremony.
With so much drama still yet to come, here we answer the big questions about the upcoming awards show.
