WhatsApp has today announced that it will finally start rolling out 3D avatars for its two billion users around the globe.
This move comes months after the stickers made their debut on Instagram, Facebook and Messenger.
While the company first introduced avatars on WhatsApp in the beta channel in October, the feature is now rolling out to all users on the messaging application.
From today, users will finally be able to create a digital representation of themselves on the popular app.
On Wednesday, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg wrote on Facebook confirming the news, adding that the avatars can be used as profile photos or custom stickers.
He put: "We're bringing avatars to WhatsApp!
"Now you can use your avatar as a sticker in chats. More styles coming soon across all our apps."
And the best part is app users will able to do so by selecting from a variety of hairstyles, facial features, and outfits.
Once the custom avatar has been created, WhatsApp will create a custom sticker pack based on the avatar - with 36 stickers reflecting several emotions and actions.
Users will also be able to put their avatar as their profile photo, or share the newly generated custom stickers with friends.
WhatsApp explained: "Your avatar is a digital version of you that can be created from billions of combinations of diverse hair styles, facial features, and outfits.
"Sending an avatar is a fast and fun way to share feelings with friends and family."
It added: "It can also be a great way to represent yourself without using your real photo so it feels more private.
"For many people this will be the first time creating an avatar and we'll continue to deliver style enhancements including lighting, shading, hair style textures, and more that will make avatars even better over time."
Meta's avatars are one of a number of virtual characters available across different platforms and messaging apps, including Bitmoji.
These 2D characters are now owned by Snap. Meanwhile, both Apple and Samsung also offer avatars in the form of Memoji and AR Emoji, respectively.
