Marriage has long been seen as an important milestone in Indian society. But for many women today, the question is no longer simply “When will I get married?” It is increasingly becoming “Do I want marriage at all?” Across urban India, some women are choosing to remain single, while others are delaying marriage until they feel emotionally, financially and personally ready. This shift does not mean that women have stopped believing in love or companionship. Rather, it reflects changing expectations around independence, careers, personal freedom and what a fulfilling life can look like.
