As a 'fireball' meteor flashed across the sky in Edinburgh last night, many people were astonished at the speed and size of the flying spectacle.
It got many of us thinking as well - what would happen if a meteor or asteroid hit Scotland? Would we all collapse into a pit of fire, or would there be survivors?
Well, according to NewScientist, the most casualties from asteroid impact wouldn't come immediately. They would occur due to the heat, wind and pressure caused by the crash, and are dangerous across the nation.
