From reality TV star to beauty mogul and style icon, Kylie Jenner is on top of the world right now. Thanks namely to her recent switch up to a more elevated, elegant style of dressing (we suspect dating the chic French actor Timothée Chalamet has something to do with that), and her trendsetting makeup looks. The latter, you kind of expect considering Jenner is at the helm of Kylie Cosmetics, her billion-dollar beauty and makeup brand that has an epic cult following. Model and fellow beauty mogul, Hayley Beiber is a fan.
For all her fame and billions in the bank, Jenner hasn't always gotten it right, but we have enjoyed watching her style and beauty evolve. And we love her willingness to put herself out there (well on Instagram and TikTok anyway) and spill her beauty and makeup secrets. Which, do have a hint of reliability or at least give us a baseline to add some of her tips and tricks to our own makeup routine.
Jenner may not get the mega-watt attention that big sister Kim Kardashian generates, but she has taken the world by storm more than once. Like during her PDA fest with Chalamet at this year's Golden Globes awards and of course every time she drops one of her famous lip kits. Yep, Jenner is the girl who reignited the 90s trend for overlining your lips and has shown us how to get the perfect pout without having to subject ourselves to fillers (or the dreaded trout pout).
Ahead, we dissect Jenner's approach to makeup: Take what you will and leave the rest.
Take A Tip from her "Everyday" Makeup Look
Here Jenner shows us how to perfect an everyday makeup look, which focuses on natural-looking skin (with the help of lots of concealer and contouring), a healthy flush, and of course that signature heavily-lined matte lip. We're going to call this a no-makeup, heavily made-up makeup look.
How She Masters Mascara Application
Jenner might be spruiking her top-selling Kylash Volume Mascara here but it's the application that we are focused on. Take note: She "shimmies from the bottom", flicks the brush out to add length and create a winged cat-eye effect, and applies her mascara a "little thicker" to create a more almond-shaped eye.
Making a Case for a Heavy-Defined Brow
Here Jenner revisits one of her archival makeup looks from 2017 (and yes we agree she does look a tad different), which is centered around a bold, heavily defined brow. Showing how to brush, shape, and add definition to the brow, she then sets it off with warm, natural colors. This is a polished look that makes your eyes the focal point.
