What Todd Boehly did after Chelsea goal vs Leicester as Thiago Silva frustration becomes clear

It was a quiet Stamford Bridge before kick-off on Thursday night. Chelsea welcomed Leicester City to their stadium for the penultimate game of the Premier League season, knowing that a spot in the top four had already been secured following Arsenal's loss in the week.

So, it's understandable that it was a bit flat at the Bridge. That's without mentioning the off-the-pitch chaos going on at the club over the last couple of months or so.

Only a scintillating performance from Chelsea could lift the mood in west London. However, it was anything but that, in truth.

Chelsea started the match in a very slow fashion, something that has almost become the norm for their recent matches at home. Leicester took the lead on six minutes through a superb James Maddison strike from outside the box - leaving Edouard Mendy with absolutely no chance.

The Blues did equalise, though, almost half an hour later when Marcos Alonso volleyed home after being found by a fantastic Reece James pass. It was a typically terrific assist from James, who recorded his seventh of the Premier League season with one game remaining of the campaign.

Despite some pressing in the second half, without creating too many clear-cut chances, Chelsea were unable to find the winner, as were Leicester. So, with all of this being said, football.london takes a look at some perhaps unseen moments from the 90 minutes at Stamford Bridge on Thursday evening...

Boehly's celebrations

Todd Boehly's consortium looks to be the closest it's ever been to completing its long-awaited takeover of Chelsea Football Club. The American could well be announced as the new owner by the end of this month after his consortium agreed a deal with the Blues to become the new ownership group of the club.

For a second successive Premier League match at Stamford Bridge, Boehly was in attendance to watch his soon-to-be new side. He has now seen two draws, so is still waiting to see his first victory while being present at the match.

There was one moment the American billionaire enjoyed, though, and it was clear to see. Boehly was pictured standing up in celebration after Alonso levelled the match in the first half.

Chelsea supporters on social media were pleased to see how much the moment meant to Boehly, who was clearly delighted. It would have been nice to see the American react to a winning goal.

Silva's frustration

Thiago Silva has been imperious for Chelsea once again this season. Earlier in the campaign, the 37-year-old defender penned a one-year contract extension, so thankfully for Blues supporters, he will once again be playing his football at Stamford Bridge next term.

Thursday saw another fine defensive performance from Silva, but it was what he was doing on the ball that caught football.london's eyes. The Brazilian often picks the ball up in the middle of the back-three and looks to offload it to the midfield players or the attackers to start offensive moves for Chelsea.

He was restricted in doing that against Leicester, though, and the defender's frustration was clear to see. There were rarely options for Silva to move the ball forward from the back-three, and he could be seen waving his arms, clearly annoyed about the lack of movement for him from his teammates.

Silva would usually end up just passing it to the side to either Antonio Rudiger or Trevoh Chalobah, and the ball would then likely go out to either James or Alonso in the wing-back positions. Chelsea needed Jorginho to drop deep more often and collect the ball from Silva to then try and start an attack for the hosts.
