What time and TV channel is Ireland v France on today in the Six Nations? Stream information and more

Ireland face France this afternoon in a match that could go a long way to determining who will be crowned this year's Six Nations champions.

But they will do so without influential hooker Dan Sheehan, who they have lost to a hamstring injury.

Rob Herring starts in his place in the only change Andy Farrell has made to the side that started last weekend's 34-10 win over Wales, with the fit-again Ronan Kelleher added to the replacements.

Meanwhile, scrum-half Conor Murray, who emerged as a potential injury doubt on Wednesday evening, has been passed fit to continue his half-back partnership with skipper Johnny Sexton.

The availability of Murray is a major boost after Ireland lost first-choice number nine Jamison Gibson-Park to a hamstring issue ahead of kick-off in Cardiff.

Craig Casey will continue to provide scrum-half back-up from the bench ahead of fellow international rookie Caolin Blade.

Sexton has been named captain after declaring himself fit on Wednesday.

As for France, head coach Fabien Galthie has named an unchanged starting XV to the side that narrowly defeated Italy last weekend.

Quotes corner

Ireland captain Johnny Sexton: “It’s always a big game; I grew up in an era of watching Ireland lose to France, heavily, to then sort of see the first teams beating them and then to be part of teams beating them has been amazing.

“But you still have those memories from a young kid of France coming and demolishing Ireland. You probably naturally feel the underdog at my age, whereas the younger lads probably don’t. It’s a strange mixture in the squad.”

France head coach Fabien Galthie: “Ireland are one of the best adversaries we have played but that will not prevent us being ambitious on Saturday.

“Today Ireland is the best team in the world. When you watch Ireland play you are watching Leinster – there is this attacking style of rugby which is recognised as being remarkable in the rugby world.

“And they have other qualities, wonderful players and above all a deep well of talent that they refresh regularly.

“It is a remarkable achievement by the Irish federation, of the four provinces, of their academies, one cannot but congratulate them.”
