What Thiruvalluvar's Kural Teaches About Ethical Leadership That Corporate India Has Forgotten

The Book That Predates Every MBA Curriculum

The Thirukkural is divided into three books: Aram (virtue), Porul (wealth and statecraft), and Inbam (love). Corporate India, when it bothers with the text at all, tends to quote from Porul, the section on governance and strategy, and ignore Aram entirely. That selective reading is itself the problem. Thiruvalluvar's argument was that Porul without Aram is just ambition with better vocabulary. The ethics were not a preface to the leadership principles. They were the load-bearing wall.
