- Seven locations across the UK have been selected for new towns, each expected to deliver at least 10,000 homes, with some potentially exceeding 40,000.
- The chosen locations are Land North of Bozeat, Northamptonshire; Land East of Welborne, Hampshire; Land at West of Westbury, Wiltshire; Land at South of Taunton, Somerset; Land at North of Cambridge, Cambridgeshire; Land at West of Colchester, Essex; and Land at North of Basildon, Essex.
- Proposed names for the new towns include Elizabethtown, Pankhurst, Attleeton, Athelstan, and Seacole.
- These new towns are designed to feature car-free neighbourhoods, shared green spaces, and vibrant high streets, according to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.
- The government considered six other locations, including Adlington and Plymouth, but decided not to proceed with them.
