What streaks Georgia is putting on the line against Alabama

The Georgia Bulldogs travel to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, to play the Alabama Crimson Tide on Saturday, Sept. 28 at 7:30 p.m. ET. Georgia will be putting a number of historic streaks on the line against the Crimson Tide in a top five clash.

Georgia enters the Alabama game on a 42 game regular season winning streak. Alabama is the only team to defeat Georgia during this time (2021 SEC championship and 2023 SEC championship). Georgia has won a pair of national championships (2021 and 2022) during this time including UGA’s 33-18 national championship win over Alabama in 2021. Georgia last lost a regular season game in 2020.

The Bulldogs have won an SEC record 28 straight SEC regular season games. Georgia has also won 16 straight road games under Kirby Smart, which is the longest streak in the country.

Georgia is 49-2 over its last 51 games, which is Georgia’s best record over a 51 game span in school history.

The one winning streak Georgia does not have a streak against Alabama. Georgia has lost one straight game against the Crimson Tide and eight of the last nine. Georgia’s last win in Tuscaloosa came in 2007 during the Mark Richt era.

The 2024 edition of Georgia-Alabama will be the first time Kirby Smart has ever played against Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer. Smart, who served as the defensive coordinator at Alabama for years under Nick Saban, finished his career 1-5 against Saban.
