What size hand luggage can you take on a Tui flight? Plus the best bags to buy

For those of us determined to make a small bag stretch for a long weekend (or longer), hand luggage limits can feel like an annual obstacle course. Policies vary, allowances differ by fare and, increasingly, checks are far from relaxed. Get it wrong and you could be facing a hiked-up fee – putting a dampener on your holiday mood. Flying with Tui soon? Consider this your shortcut.

Doing your homework on your airline’s size and weight rules is the first step to a smoother departure. The smarter move, however, is choosing a cabin bag that’s built to meet the brief exactly – no forcing, no repacking, no last-minute stress.

Whether you’re off on a balmy beach escape or a cosmopolitan city break, I’ve rounded up the best hand luggage options that fit the airline’s requirements, plus a clear breakdown of everything you need to know about Tui’s cabin bag restrictions.

Taking a hold suitcase? We’ve also tested and found the best check-in cases for long-haul travel. Our guide features some of the best luggage brands that have all your travel needs covered.

What are the Tui hand luggage dimensions?

Your hand luggage must weigh no more than 10kg and fit in the maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm. Travellers can also bring a small bag which fits under the seat in front of you. This must be within the 40cm x 30cm x 20cm size limit.

What hand luggage can you take on Tui?

If you’re flying with Tui, you can technically take two items of hand luggage per person – one main bag and one that fits under the seat.

Away the everywhere bag

Rating: 5/5

Size: 41.4cm x 25.9cm x 18.5cm

Weight: 1.25kg with shoulder strap, 1kg without

Capacity: 20l

Why we love it

  • Full wrap-around zip opening

Take note

  • The light colours get dirty quickly

In her review of Away’s the everywhere bag, travel writer Alessia Armenise gave it top marks, saying: “This case may have a simple design but I found it answers all travel needs. It opens completely to allow for easy packing, and fits an incredible amount of clothes for a hand luggage bag.”

Alessia could fit two pairs of trousers, three tops, a light jumper, underwear, a toiletry bag, a pair of shoes and her 13in MacBook (plus cables), with room to spare.

Available in seven colourways, this makes a stylish and practical choice with a handy shoulder strap, a detachable key clip and padded laptop pocket – plus it falls within Tui’s size restrictions.

Cabin Max anode suitcase

Rating: 4.5/5

Size: 55cm x 40cm x 20cm

Weight: 2.5kg

Capacity: 40l

Why we love it

  • Tui-friendly

Take note

  • Not as sturdy as some other hard shells

If you prefer to glide through the airport on wheels, this bag could be just the ticket – and it still falls within Tui’s hand luggage size restrictions.

Awarding it 4.5 stars out of five in her review of the Cabin Max anode suitcase, travel writer Alessia Armenise said of the budget-friendly luggage: “The simple bag doesn’t offer the cool looks or luxury finish of those from the likes of July or Carl Friedrik, but I found it to be a decent, practical option for annual trips away.”

Featuring spinner wheels and a built-in combination lock, and coming in at less than £50 while on sale (at the time of writing), it’s a practical, affordable travel companion.
