Roman Abramovich is looking to sell Chelsea Football Club.
That is the big news coming out of west London today, with the Russian oligarch once again brought up in Parliament during Prime Minister's Questions over his links with Vladimir Putin amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
Abramovich has invested more than £1.5billion into the west London club and is reported to be looking for a fee in the region of £4bilion to sell.
He vehemently denies any direct links to Russian president Putin but the decision to step back from decision-making was made to protect the club's reputation because of an increased focus on the 55-year-old after Russia launched an invasion of Ukraine.
Last weekend Abramovich announced that he was going to hand the "stewardship and care" of Chelsea to the club's charitable foundation but the club said that he would remain sole owner and had no intention of selling.
Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss has claimed that he is one of four people to have been offered the chance to buy Chelsea from Abramovich and there are likely to be no shortage of other interested parties in the successful Premier League outfit.
In an interview with Blick about Russia's invasion of Ukraine Wyss said: "[Abramovich] wants to get rid of Chelsea quickly. I and three other people received an offer on Tuesday to buy Chelsea from Abramovich.
"I have to wait four to five days now. Abramovich is currently asking far too much. You know, Chelsea owe him £2billion [it is £1.5billion]. But Chelsea has no money. That means: those who buy Chelsea should compensate Abramovich."
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the UK's richest man, has previously been linked with a move for Chelsea, with his brother Bob saying in 2019: "There was some early exchange [with Chelsea] but we were a significant way apart on valuations. The issue with Chelsea is its stadium. We are all getting older and it is a decade of your life to resolve that."
Ratcliffe is a Manchester United supporter and the ownership of the Red Devils has always been up in the air, particularly with supporters wanting the Glazer family to step aside.
And Ratcliffe has spoken about owning United too, albeit speaking in less than glowing terms about the club he loves.
Speaking to The Times in 2019 following his purchase of Nice, Sir Jim said: "[Ineos] never wants to be the dumb money in town, never, never.
"They [United] are in quite a big pickle as a business. They haven't got the manager selection right, haven't bought well. They have been the dumb money, which you see with players like Fred.
"United have spent an immense amount since Ferguson left and been poor, to put it mildly. Shockingly poor, to be honest."
That may hand Chelsea the edge when it comes down to it.
