Netflix had some huge announcements to make during their special Tudum event this weekend.
The streaming service gave some big updates on what fans of the different shows including the likes of The Crown, Emily in Paris, You, The Witcher, Bridgerton, Heartstopper, Never Have I Ever, Outer Banks and Stranger Things have in store for their fans in the coming weeks and months. The global fan event was streamed around the world and featured lots of first look clips, sneak peeks as well as some confirmations on release dates for shows we've been waiting for!
Here's everything that happened at Netflix's Tudum event - and when you can expect to see the shows on your screens!
Release dates
Many hotly anticipated shows and films finally got their release dates during the Tudum event including some huge names like The Crown and Emily in Paris - and we can't wait to see these shows on our screens.
As part of the event, Enola Holmes 2 , which stars Millie Bobby Brown, Henry Cavill and Helena Bonham Carter, was given a teaser poster as well as a trailer. The show, which sees Millie in the titular role follows the story, of Sherlock's younger sister who is adamant she wants to prove everyone one and outsmart her own big brother. A release date was confirmed for November 4.
The upcoming series of The Crown - the fifth overall - has also got its premiere date. It sees Dominic West and Elizabeth Debicki starring as Prince Charles and Princess Diana as the pair navigate their marital issues. A release date has been set for November 9.
Lily Collins is back for a third season of Emily in Paris , with its release date finally confirmed - and it's only a few weeks away. The series follows the marketing executive as she continues to navigate her new life. The third series will launch on December 21.
WEDNESDAY, starring Jenna Ortega in the lead role, and Catherine Zeta-Jones and Gwendoline Christie as supporting actresses, was given its release date during the Tudum event. A first look clip was played, which shows Wednesday Addams as a student at Nevermore Academy. The Tim Burton directed show will be premiering globally on November 23.
Noah Centineo - a much-loved Netflix star thanks to his leading role alongside Lana Condor in All The Boys I Loved Before - is back for a new Netflix series called The Recruit . It's been given a December 16 premiere date and fans were even treated to a first look image from the show, where Noah stars as a struggling lawyer at the CIA who gets caught up in danger when the agency is threatened.
YOU , starring Penn Badgley as the creepy yet intriguing Professor Joe Goldberg, was given a release date during yesterday's special event. It's not for a while yet but fans of the show will no doubt be thrilled to know that Netflix has confirmed part one of season four will launch on February 10th and the second part a month later on March 10th.
The Witcher's prequel series, The Witcher: Blood Origin , will get its release date on Christmas Day of all days - December 25. It will star Sophia Brown as Éile, whilst Laurence O’Fuarain will play Fjall and Michelle Yeoh will star as mystical sword-master, Scian.
First looks
Netflix's special Tudum event also gave fans a first look at some exciting things in store. Heart of Stone , an action spy thriller starring Gal Gadot, Jamie Dornan and Alia Bhatt shared a first clip at the movie, coming to Netflix in 2023.
There was also a first look for the hotly-anticipated Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story , a spin-off from the much-loved Bridgerton series. It will see Charlotte meet George and how their romance blossomed and made the Bridgerton society what it is today.
An exclusive teaser also dropped for film The Mother starring the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Joseph Fiennes. It follows the story of a deadly female assassin who has decided to come out of hiding to protect her long-lost daughter and will be out in May 2023.
Based on a shocking true story, The Watcher was given its first look trailer at the event. Naomi Watts and Bobby Cannavale star as a married couple who find out they've got much more than they bargained for when they bought their house. Soon, they receive letters from a mystery person 'The Watcher' who issues them with some chilling threats.
Heartstopper is back for a season two! And whilst we don't have a release date yet, the cast of the Netflix show did confirm that the second season has started filming. The teaser clip seems to confirm that Nick and Charlie's trip to Paris - a much-loved bit in the book and amongst fans of the couple - will be featured in the upcoming series too.
Starring Daniel Craig and a whole host of big names, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery also shared an exclusive clip of the upcoming film. Daniel stars as Detective Benoit Blanc who is put on the case when a tech billionaire Miles Bron invites his friends for a getaway on his private Greek island and someone ends up dead!
Outer Banks became a hit when it was released during lockdown and follows the story of a group of teenagers on the hunt for millions of dollars worth of gold. Starring Chase Stokes and Madelyn Cline as John B and Sarah, the pair and their friends found themselves washed up on a seemingly deserted island at the end of season two. The first teaser trailer for season three shows more fun times - and hardships - for the Pogues, as they try and navigate the evil clutches of villains Ward and Rafe Cameron and set out on a mission to try and locate the missing gold, all whilst navigating the usual teenage drama.
Elsewhere, there were many other sneak peeks and revelations for some other big shows including Bridgerton , as the cast sat down to discuss the next season. Nicola Coughlan was there to give a sneak peek on the upcoming series. The Never Have I Ever Cast also discussed the fourth and final season, which promises more drama and romance when it comes to Netflix in 2023.
A blooper real was unveiled from the recently released season three of The Umbrella Academy whilst there was also a behind-the-scenes featurette from Guillermo Del Toro's Pinocchio . The film will arrive on Netflix this December.
There was also some new footage from the first season of Squid Game , as fans wait patiently for the second season, whilst the much-loved and top streamed show Stranger Things also treated fans to new content. A blooper reel from filming shows the cast messing up their words, laughing and dancing as they kept themselves busy filming the latest season.
