Xbox Game Pass is one of the best-value offerings in gaming. Starting at £7.99 a month, players can access a library of hundreds of rotating games, free to download to their Xbox Series or One console. If you pay for Game Pass Ultimate, you get a whole bunch of EA games and PC titles, too.
Xbox Game Pass titles include high-profile titles, including every Microsoft Studios and Bethesda title as they become available: think Fallout, The Elder Scrolls, Doom, Gears of War, Fable, and so on.
So what’s coming to Game Pass in December? There are plenty of goodies to keep you busy over the Christmas holidays, including classics like Lego Star Wars and The Walking Dead, and new experiences like High on Life.

Xbox Game Pass highlights for December 2022
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
The big headliner this month is Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker trilogy. If you’ve never played a Lego Star Wars game, you’re in for a treat: it’s a joyful family-friendly romp through the legendary movies with an abundance of charm and genuinely funny visual gags.
Designed with two-player co-op in mind, as the name suggests, you can play through all nine movies featuring Luke Skywalker. It’s not the most challenging game in the world, but finishing the story itself is only half the fun, as there are plenty of minifigs and other collectables to unlock by revisiting past chapters with different characters…
Hot Wheels Unleashed
One for tiny car enthusiasts; it’s an arcade racer that lets players customise their vehicles and build devious tracks complete with loops and obstacles to be shared online.
There’s a split-screen mode for two players to duke it out, but the real fun comes with the 12-player online mode, assuming you can find enough participants (its arrival on Game Pass should help there).
High on Life
It’s coming to Game Pass on release day, so we don’t know for sure how good it will be, but High on Life is set to be memorable, if nothing else. It’s from Squanch Games — the studio set up by Rick & Morty co-creator Justin Roiland — and you’ll certainly recognise his voice in the eye-opening trailer.
It’s been dubbed as “Blade Runner meets The Muppets”, a comedy science-fiction FPS where the guns chat away to you while you blast your way through the game. We can’t wait to give it a try when it arrives on December 13.

Game Pass vs Game Pass Ultimate: What’s the difference?
There are three tiers of Game Pass available. These are Game Pass for console or PC, which are £7.99 a month each, or Game Pass Ultimate for £10.99.
As the name and price suggests, Game Pass Ultimate is the best of the bunch, offering both PC and console games. It also bundles Xbox Gold for online multiplayer access on console and cloud gaming, where certain titles can be streamed to any device with a web browser, from your phone to your laptop.
Game Pass Ultimate and the PC version also include access to EA Play, which provides a whole library of extra games from Electronic Arts, a studio known for everything from the FIFA and Madden sports series to Apex Legends and Mass Effect.
In short, Game Pass Ultimate offers a lot more value for an extra £3 and is well worth it if you play across formats, compete online on Xbox, or like your EA titles. Paying for Gold and EA Play separately would cost an additional £10.98 a month, and you wouldn’t get cloud streaming.
