What Paul Potts who won Britain's Got Talent is doing now

Paul Potts shocked the world with his voice when he appeared on Britain's Got Talent.

At the time, Paul had been working as a manager in The Carphone Warehouse, but his life changed on March 17 2007 when he decided to enter Simon Cowell's new talent show. Previously, Paul had performed in amateur opera from 1999 to 2003, but following a bicycle accident, he stopped singing.

However, in 2007 Paul auditioned at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff. He sang a rendition of Giacomo Puccini's 'Nessun dorma' leaving both the judges and crowd in awe.

Paul made it through to the semi-final of Britain's Got Talent and received the highest public vote for his performance of Andrea Bocelli's 'Time To Say Goodbye'. However going into the final, Connie Talbot was the favourite to win.

For his final performance, Paul sang his cover of 'Nessun Dorma again and beat Connie to win the £100,000 prize. He then released his debut album 'One Chance' which claimed the No.1 spot in the UK Album Chart and performed Sarah Brightman's 'Nella Fantasia' at the Royal Variety Performance in front of Queen Elizabeth II.

His quick rise to stardom saw Paul embark on a series of 97 concerts in 85 cities across 23 countries in 2008. During this time, Paul gained international fame and appeared twice on the Korean Talent TV show Star King.

He was also hugely popular in Germany, where he appeared in TV and cinema adverts and award shows. One of his biggest career moments came in 2016 when he performed two full-length opera roles.

In London he played Cavaradossi in Puccini's Tosca at Summer Sessions and in Hungary he played the role of Steuermann in a production of Wagner's Der Fliegende Holländer.

However, Paul was soon back on TV screens across the world. In 2018, he won the television music competition Immortal Songs: Singing the Legend in South Korea and in 2018 he reached the final 12 of America's Got Talent: The Champions.

And this year, Paul competed in Germany's The Masked Singer as 'Koala'.

But despite his jet-set lifestyle, it appears Paul still loves nothing more than spending time in the Welsh countryside and walking across the Brecon Beacons.
