Mason Mount came on as a substitute during England's 3-0 win against Senegal to secure the Three Lions' place in the World Cup quarter-finals. England will take on the reigning world champions, France, in the next round after goals from Jordan Henderson, Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka saw Gareth Southgate's side cruise past Senegal.
Mount's place in Southgate's team came into question as fans and pundits alike clamoured for Phil Foden to start ahead of the Chelsea star. Following Foden's impressive performance against Wales in the final Group B fixture, the Blues midfielder found himself on the bench again for the round of 16 clash against the champions of Africa.
There were a number of Chelsea representatives on the pitch last night with Edouard Mendy and Kalidou Koulibaly lining up for England's opposition. Raheem Sterling has left the England squad due to a 'personal family matter' with reports suggesting his house was broken into whilst he was away in Qatar.

Mount was introduced into the action in the 76th minute, replacing Jude Bellingham who has taken up a more attacking role in the team since Southgate dropped the Chelsea star. The 19-year-old grabbed an assist for Henderson's opener in the first half and left pundits and teammates raving about his performance after the match following another brilliant display.
The Blues are one of the teams linked with a move for Bellingham next summer but his value looks like it will continue to soar after a brilliant World Cup campaign so far. Mount helped England see the game out and secure their place in the quarter-finals, setting up a huge clash against France on Saturday, December 10.
After the full-time whistle was blown, Mount went straight to his Chelsea teammates Koulibaly and Mendy to console the pair after they had been knocked out of the tournament. The Senegalese duo are now set to join up with the rest of the group in Abu Dhabi after a short break post-World Cup.
