What Man City stars are doing during the June internationals

Manchester City's players might have begun the week by celebrating the club's latest Premier League title win, but that doesn't mean that the season is over for them just yet.

While the 2022 World Cup isn't taking place until November, a number of City 's title winners still have international commitments to attend to this summer before they can put their feet up for a few weeks.

Whether in friendlies or official competitions, here's how some of City's stars will be spending the first few weeks of June.

England quadruple

Phil Foden, Jack Grealish, Kyle Walker, Raheem Sterling and John Stones have all been called up to Gareth Southgate's England squad for a quadruple-header of UEFA Nations League games.

The Three Lions kick their latest campaign off with a trip to Hungary on June 4, before facing Germany in Munich three days later. They then fly back home for a double-header against Italy and Hungary at Wolves' Molineux stadium, although the former will be played behind closed doors as punishment for the crowd trouble at the final of Euro 2020.

Walker is back in the fold having been left out of the squad in March, although it's unclear how his recent ankle injury - which kept him out of City's final seven league games of the season, will affect his participation.

Europe

Bernardo Silva and Joao Cancelo have been included in Portugal's squad for their upcoming Nations League games against Spain, Switzerland and Czech Republic.

Ilkay Gundogan has been called up by Hansi Flick for Germany's fixtures against Italy, England and Hungary, while Rodri could feature for Spain against Germany, Czech Republic and Switzerland.

Kevin de Bruyne has been included in the Belgium squad ahead of meetings with the Netherlands, Wales and Poland, while Nathan Ake will be hoping to line up against him for the Dutch.

Oleksandr Zinchenko will lead his Ukraine team into matches against Republic of Ireland, and Armenia, but first he has a crucial World Cup play-off against Scotland - postponed from March due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine - to think about. Should Ukraine progress, they will go head-to-head with Wales for a place at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Africa

Riyad Mahrez is expected to captain Algeria in their African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Uganda and Tanzania next month, although the official squad list is yet to be confirmed.

South America

Gabriel Jesus and Ederson are in the Brazil squad for upcoming friendlies against South Korea and Japan, the former returning to Tite's squad after a fine couple of months for City.

North America

Zack Steffen will represent the USA in friendlies against Morocco and Uruguay in the first week of June, before taking part in CONCACAF Nations League group games against Grenada and El Salvador.

Recuperation

Aymeric Laporte was initially included in Luis Enrique's Spain squad, but on Wednesday he announced that he has pulled out with a knee injury sustained in City's win against Wolves two weeks ago.

Although Laporte played the full 90 minutes in City's two games since, he said that he played through pain and that now it is time to follow the correct medical procedures to address the issue.

Ruben Dias injured his hamstring in the 5-0 defeat of Newcastle at the start of the month, so has not been included in Portugal's squad.

Young Blues

James Trafford, Taylor Harwood-Bellis and Tommy Doyle have been called up for U21s EURO qualifiers, while Sam Edozie, James McAtee and Liam Delap will be hoping to make the squad for the U19s at the U19s Euros in Slovakia this June.
