Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard was on the receiving end of a nasty challenge from Manchester City midfielder Rodri on Saturday evening.
Odegaard's Norway and Rodri's Spain faced each other in a crucial Euro 2024 qualifier, with the City No.16 slide tackling the Gunners playmaker in what appeared to be a clear penalty. However, the referee eventually waved play on much to the dismay of Odegaard and the rest of his teammates.
The two midfielders' respective club sides are locked in an intense battle to win this season's Premier League title. Pep Guardiola's men currently sit eight points behind the north Londoners, albeit they do have a game in hand on their title rivals.

Of course, this led to Arsenal fans taking to social media to voice their frustrations, who were instantly worried about any potential injury to Odegaard considering their captain looked to be in considerable discomfort following Rodri's challenge. The 24-year-old played on but that didn't stop the Gunners faithful on Twitter.
Here is what a select few said.
@Larry_king101 : "I don’t care about the penalty! My boys should just come back injury free!"
@GarnetZahor : "We don't care about penalty, we care about him getting injury, he was supposed not to play this game like Halaad. (sic)"
@AaronBanniste15 : "Actually outrageous. No contact on the ball what so ever."
@afcjosh21 : "He didn't even try to go for the ball he was purely aiming for him."
@OGNathan23 : "Meanwhile haaland is sitting at home."
@aaront4ut : "Why they have these meaningless games at the end of the league season is mind boggling to me."
