New footage has emerged of Diogo Jota apologising to Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Oliver Skipp following his mistimed challenge in the closing stages of Liverpool's 4-3 victory at Anfield.
The Portugal international was embroiled in controversy prior to his last-gasp winner during the seven-goal thriller on Sunday afternoon as a coming together between the pair resulted in the midfielder sustaining a bloodied head injury, which required Skipp to be substituted after lengthy treatment on the Anfield turf.
Despite the protests of the visitors Paul Tierney brandished a yellow card in the direction of the Liverpool forward, who later fired a 94th-minute winner to keep the Reds' faint hopes of securing Champions League football alive.

Now, in new footage shared on Liverpool's official YouTube channel, Jota can be seen putting his hands together and making an apologetic gesture as he approached Skipp in the bowls of the Anfield tunnel shortly after full-time. The two players then shared a brief hug before they made their way back to their respective dressing rooms.
Interim manager Ryan Mason was less warming to Jota's actions, however, as he let loose on the Anfield touchline following Tierney's decision before later insisting he would like an explanation as to why the 26-year-old Liverpool forward wasn't dismissed.
“I would like an explanation and a reason why it wasn’t [a sending-off],” Mason told reporters in his post-match press conference at Anfield. “I can understand referees on the pitch missing it. My feeling at the minute was an instant red card because when your foot is five-and-a-half foot off the ground and make contact and there is a gash, it ticks all the boxes.
“We want the VAR to help the official on the pitch at that moment, but an experienced referee and VAR haven’t given it.
“A player that shouldn’t be on the pitch decided the game. I felt like we didn’t get that decision, it was a big decision, a crucial decision and one you can’t really miss.
“I find it hard and impossible to really understand why. We come here and create so many chances. On another day we win it with ease.”
