Kildare boss Glenn Ryan says it’s remarkable that Kevin Feely has got himself back playing inter-county football again.
The big midfielder came on for the final 15 minutes of Kildare’s one point defeat by Dublin at Croke Park over the weekend.
Feely, 30, marked himself out as one of the top midfielders in the country back in 2018, but he’s suffered injury after injury since.
The Athy club man, who works as a physio, ruptured his achilles last year, but has fought his way back again.
“Ah god, what Kevin Feely has done is remarkable,” said Ryan.
“Between now and the last time he played here, he has ruptured his achilles, which is probably one of the worst injuries any sportsman could have.
“He had an operation on it and he has himself back here again.
“I'd imagine he's defied all the rules of any sense of medicine and science to get himself back here.
“As an amateur sportsman, holding down a full-time job - his own business that he works very hard at - to be able to put in the time to be going out there, at this stage, it's something he should be highly, highly commended for.”
