NEW DELHI: Rani's absence from the Indian women's hockey team since the flare-up of her hamstring injury after the Tokyo Olympics deepened once she returned fit to lead Haryana to the National Games gold last month but still missed out on a place in the India squad for the Nations Cup.
The Indian team will travel to Valencia in Spain for the December 11-17 Nations Cup, which is a new tournament introduced by the FIH for qualification to the top-tier Pro League. India and Spain got a chance to play the last season of the Pro League as replacement teams after Australia and New Zealand had pulled out due to COVID-related international travel restrictions.
