What Kane did to Scarlett, Gollini praises Spurs ace - 4 things spotted in Tottenham training

Scarlett impresses Kane

Tottenham fans desperately want to see more of talented youngster Dane Scarlett in action over the coming months. A regular in the first-team squad in the Premier League this season, the 18-year-old only has one appearance to his name in the league in 2021/22 after coming off the bench against Leeds United.

Spurs do have a very special player on their hands, with Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte both waxing lyrical about the frontman having worked with him. Scarlett certainly knows where the back of net is, demonstrating that in Thursday's training session at Hotspur Way ahead of the Leicester City game.

Involved in a finishing drill with his hero Harry Kane, the young striker netted time and time again from various positions in the session put on by Ryan Mason. Having to turn quickly from a central position to score, Scarlett would then have a ball fed across from the left and then one from the right that he would have to finish off.

In Spurs' latest training video published on their YouTube account on Friday morning, Scarlett nets all three of his attempts in quick succession and it led to a round of applause from Kane (which can be seen at the 2:36 minute mark). The England captain looked very impressed by what he had witnessed from his teammate.

Clinical Kane

You have to go back six weeks for Kane's last goal for Tottenham after he netted in the 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion. Five league games have passed since then, with the striker unfortunately not finding the target.

His struggles in front of goal certainly didn't impact the team in the first three matches as he registered five assists in total in the big wins over West Ham, Newcastle and Aston Villa. However, the Lilywhites really could have done with a Kane strike in the last two having failed to beat Brighton and Brentford.

Chances have been at a premium for the player over the past fortnight and all will be hoping a boatful comes his way this weekend against Leicester. Kane is finishing his opportunities on the training pitch, though, as he put on a finishing masterclass in front of Scarlett.

Producing a range of different strikes, you'd back him end his barren run against the Foxes if he's given a sight on goal on Sunday.

Gollini praise and complaints

Pierluigi Gollini and Brandon Austin were the two goalkeepers between the sticks during the finishing drill at the club's Enfield base. Never happy about conceding a goal, the former was incredibly vocal on a couple of occasions when the ball went past him and found the net.

Praising Scarlett by saying "what a goal" for one his strikes that went through Austin's legs, the Italian then sounded really disappointed when Kane netted a bullet header past him before later claiming for offside against the striker when Harvey White netted. A loud cry of "nooooooo" could also be heard in the video (2:50) as Son Heung-min curled a shot into the bottom, with the South Korean keen to rub it in that he scored.

However, Gollini had the last laugh as one of Son's efforts cannoned off the post and it left the attacker on the ground in despair. Replying "I tell you if it's in the goal, I touched it" to his teammate, the summer signing was having a good laugh at his teammate as he made his way behind the back of the net.

Trademark Kulusevski

One key aspect of Dejan Kulusevski's game since he arrived at Tottenham is his tendency to cut in from the right flank and get onto his left foot. His goal in February's win at Leeds United is one example as he linked up with Matt Doherty and moved into the area before arrowing a shot into the bottom corner.

Kulusevski was at it once again in Thursday's session as he took his place on the right and curled a fine first-time finish into the bottom corner beyond Gollini after White had teed him up. Following two poor performances going on his extremely high standards, another goal this weekend would do just nicely as Spurs look to get back on track in the top-four race.
