Mikel Arteta has revealed that Jurgen Klopp congratulated the Spaniard after Arsenal beat Liverpool on Sunday. The two were spotted having a conversation following the game but Arteta has confirmed that there was no malice in any messages.
An early opening goal from Gabriel Martinelli and two goals from Bukayo Saka was enough to secure a 3-2 win for the Gunners who secured their eighth victory in nine games. Martinelli opened the scoring in just 58 seconds. Liverpool levelled proceedings through Darwin Nunez after 34 minutes but Saka restored the Arsenal lead on the stroke of half-time.
Liverpool levelled again on 53 minutes as Roberto Firmino scored his 10th goal against the Gunners in just 17 appearances. Arsenal were awarded a penalty 15 minutes from time thanks to a challenge from Thiago Alcantara on Gabriel Jesus.

The Englishman had to wait more than two minutes to take the spot-kick after a VAR process confirmed the penalty. Despite the pressure, Saka made no mistake from 12 yards as he slotted his attempt past Alisson Becker, who guessed the right way but couldn't prevent the ball from ending up in the back of the net.
Arsenal held onto secure all three points and returned to the top of the Premier League after being temporarily displaced by Manchester City. Shortly after proceedings, Klopp congratulated Arteta for his side's relentless performance. Speaking in his post-match press conference, Arteta said: "He said congratulations. We shook hands and we move on. We don’t normally have time to discuss."
Arteta will be hoping his side can continue the form they've showed over the past nine games, that starts with a trip to Leeds United next weekend.
