What Jordan Henderson said about the City Ground atmosphere after FA Cup clash

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson was impressed with the atmosphere at the City Ground as Nottingham Forest were narrowly defeated in the FA Cup quarter-final.

A second-half goal from Diogo Jota was enough to see Jurgen Klopp’s side make it through to the semi-final of the competition. Forest did put up a fight against the Premier League giants, having chances of their own.

Steve Cooper ’s side have been praised for their performance as eyes now turn to ensure that there is a repeat of the same fixture in the Premier League next season. As well as the performance of the team being hailed, there has also been plenty of kind words for the atmosphere created by a sell-out City Ground.

The noise created by Forest fans is something that was mentioned by Henderson when arriving at St George’s Park for international duty on Wednesday. The Liverpool midfielder joined his England teammates as they started preparations for the friendlies against Switzerland and the Ivory Coast.

A video uploaded on England’s Youtube channel shows Henderson being greeted by a member of staff, who congratulates the midfielder on the result at the weekend and reveals that she was at the game. Henderson responds with: “It was a good atmosphere wasn’t it?”

Henderson wasn’t the only Liverpool player to comment on the atmosphere , with defender Virgil van Dijk saying how the noise made the task for his team ‘hard’. Forest defender Max Lowe has also said that Forest fans are the best home crowd that he has played in front of .

“I’ve been at four teams now and they are the best home fans I’ve played in front of, easily. It’s definitely a standout,” he said.
