Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh has to be in an uncomfortable position. His team is in the midst of sign-stealing allegations and he’s been suspended by the Big Ten for the remainder of the regular season as penance for breaking the league’s sportsmanship policy.
His team earned two victories in his most recent absence, but now comes the big one, “The Game,” between Ohio State and Michigan, and he will be relegated to a cheerleader during the game. He’ll still be allowed to be a part of his other duties during the week in preparation.
One of those duties is to meet with the media on Mondays for his weekly press conference, and he did just that this week to preview the massive matchup with the Buckeyes.
It was an odd press conference. They almost always are with Mr. Khakis, but this one took a few more odd turns so than usual. Harbaugh clearly went out of his way to not mention anything about respecting Ryan Day and OSU when asked about it off the top. He referenced Ted Lasso and his mom wearing a one-piece swimsuit. He looked very uncomfortable when questioned about some of the actions his program has or has not taken regarding the sign-stealing investigation, deferring often to the statements the university has put out after some … long pauses.
In case you missed any of what Harbaugh said, we have it here thanks to the CBS affiliate in Columbus, WBNS 10TV.
You know the deal. Ohio State and Michigan will kick things off at High Noon on Saturday in Ann Arbor. We will, of course, have plenty of coverage, analysis, and reaction leading up to, during and after the game, so stay with us and check back often.
