Facebook users are reporting that something appears to be wrong with the social media site this morning, as their homepages are looking a little strange.
Thousands of Facebook users reported problems with the platform from around 7 am on Wednesday morning, according to Down Detector, which has received more than 2,600 reports at the time of writing.
Facebook fans took to Twitter to report that instead of seeing the usual posts from their family and friends, their feeds are flooded with fan messages to celebrity pages that they have liked.
Twitter users shared screenshots of their feeds that show people posting to celebrities like Billie Eilish and Eminem.
One Twitter user said: “Is anybody else’s Facebook news feed acting weird? I’m trying to scroll through my news feed, and all I’m seeing are people posting to pages of people I’m following like Neymar Jr, Eminem, etc. instead of my friends’ stuff.”
Another said: “What is going on with Facebook? I don’t want to see random peoples comments on pages I’ve liked. Make it stop.”

Has Facebook been hacked?
Facebook was not hacked, but the error was caused by a configuration change.
A Meta spokesperson told the Evening Standard: “Earlier today, a configuration change caused some people to have trouble with their Facebook Feed. We resolved the issue as quickly as possible for everyone who was impacted, and we apologise for any inconvenience.”
