What is Vogue Open Casting, as the magazine searches for the next generation of models?

The trailblazing fashion and lifestyle magazine, Vogue, has revealed its latest project — Open Casting.

The magazine will be looking for the next generation of models that embody a modern ideal of what beauty is.

The casting call is open to all people who meet the requirements. Those selected will have the opportunity to be featured in Vogue’s global editions’ autumn issue.

If you’ve always dreamt of gracing the pages of one of the world’s leading magazines, here is everything you need to know about the casting call and how you can take part.

What is Vogue Open Casting?

Vogue has announced that it has begun a global model search to “identify, encourage, and support a new generation of models” that match the modern definitions of beauty.

Anna Wintour, Vogue’s Global Editorial Director and Conde Nast’s Chief Content Officer, said: “Open Casting is an initiative that will foster the next generation of Vogue talent, with particular attention to the need for more diverse and inclusive representation in fashion. We can’t wait to meet them.”

It hasn’t been revealed if Wintour will be involved in choosing the finalists who make the cut. But we do know that a variety of Vogue editors, stylists, and casting directors will have their say. Industry professionals, such as Instagram’s Director of Fashion Partnerships, Eva Chen, model Paloma Elsesser, and the co-founders of DM Casting Piergiorgio del Moro and Samuel Ellis Scheinman, will join in, too.

Del Moro and Scheinman expressed their excitement about the project, saying: “Finding faces to represent modernity and the now in an ever-evolving society is the endeavor of casting.

“It is with pride that we have joined Vogue’s Open Casting, a mould-breaking model search, and are excited to find the faces of tomorrow.”

How to take part in Vogue Open Casting

Open Casting is open to all those who are femme-identifying and aged 18 or over. Applicants can be from any country around the globe and they do not need to be signed to an agency to qualify. Plus, the casting call is free to enter.

Those who want to put their hat in the ring can do so via the Open Casting Portal on the Vogue website, by submitting photographs and a short video. They will also be asked to complete a questionnaire about their personality.

A committee will choose the finalists in June. Those selected will become the Vogue Open Casting Class of 2023. Not only will they have the chance to be featured in a photoshoot for an autumn issue of global editions of Vogue, but they will also receive continued mentorship and support as they navigate their new career.
