Chancellor John Healey will urge EU finance ministers in Dublin not to exclude British businesses from the bloc's "made in Europe" procurement plan.
The EU initiative aims to protect continental manufacturing from competition, raising concerns for UK sectors such as car manufacturing and steel.
Healey will advocate for closer ties in tech, defence, and manufacturing, while reflecting on lessons from failed UK-EU defence loan talks.
Prime minister Andy Burnham has warned French president Emmanuel Macron that "buy European" policies could create significant challenges for UK industry.
During the informal summit, Healey will also hold his first meeting with Ukrainian counterpart Sergii Marchenko to reaffirm UK support.
