What is Mont Ventoux? All you need to know about the 'bald mountain' that is part of the Tour de France

The 2025 edition of the Tour de France marked the 19th time the peloton Mont Ventoux, the 'Giant of Provence', one of the most iconic Tour climbs. For 2026, the famous ascent will be part of the Tour de France Femmes for the first time in its current form. However, it's not the first time a major women's race has been held on its winding roads.

It's a mountain with seemingly relentless slopes that weave across the barren and lifeless landscape called the 'bald mountain', setting Ventoux apart from other iconic climbs to feature in the Tour.
