Approaching her 91st birthday, Dame Judi Dench has offered a poignant insight into her worsening eyesight, describing the decline as "crushing".

The beloved actress, who was first diagnosed with age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in 2012, revealed in a candid interview with the Radio Times that her vision has deteriorated to the point where she can no longer see the television.
