One of Liverpool's oldest Chinese restaurants which has been a feature of the city centre for decades is currently branded with a poor food hygiene rating.
The Mayflower Chinese Restaurant has been based on Duke Street for many years and has long been a popular spot for those who have enjoyed a night out and are in need of a late bite to eat.
But currently, the Mayflower has a food hygiene score of just one, the second lowest rating that a food business can be handed and means that major improvement is necessary. That rating was awarded after an inspection by Liverpool Council's food hygiene team last June.

Through Freedom of Information requests, we have received the full report from the inspectors following that inspection, which details what they found during their visit to the Mayflower.
The inspection found that high risk foods were being stored at ambient temperatures at the Duke Street restaurant, there was also no system of labelling foods in operation.
Inspectors also found that cleaning was required in areas behind and under equipment in the kitchen as well as in the ice machine. There were also concerns about pest proofing at the premises, with one note stating: "Always follow pest control contractor's recommendations."
There were also concerns raised about documentation. The inspectors said a documented food safety management system was not available and nor was any form of allergen risk assessment. Mayflower is described in the notes as an "unregistered food business operator."
Food businesses in Liverpool are routinely inspected by local authority hygiene teams. A health officer will look at three criteria when inspecting a premises. These include how hygienically the food is prepared, cooked, re-heated, cooled and stored, the cleanliness, layout, lighting and ventilation of the building and how the business manages what it does to make sure food is safe.
Each establishment receives its rating following an inspection conducted by a food safety officer from the council. A rating of zero means urgent improvement is necessary, one means major improvement is required while two means improvement is needed. A rating of three means the premises is generally satisfactory, four is good and five is very good.
We attempted to contact The Mayflower for a response.
