The Profile Is Already a Decision About Survival
Before an Indian woman uploads her first photo to a dating app, she has already made a dozen choices that have nothing to do with attraction. Does she show her face clearly, or keep one photo slightly angled? Does she name her neighbourhood, or just the city? Does she link her Instagram, or leave it blank and accept that men will call her suspicious for the omission? Her profile is not a self-portrait. It is a risk calculation dressed as a self-portrait.
