Spurs striker Harry Kane made his presence known to Everton substitute and former Lilywhites midfielder Dele Ali who made a brief cameo in this Premier League fixture.
Antonio Conte's side bounced back in dramatic fashion from their 1-0 Middlesbrough defeat with a convincing 5-0 win over Frank Lampard and Everton.
Alongside leapfrogging Arsenal legend Thierry Henry in the Premier League goal scoring charts with his 175th and 176th goal in this fixture, Kane also did something that was joked about on social media by Spurs fans, whom were delighted to see former player Alli enter the fray.
Alli came on in the 69th minute to a lovely rendition of the 'we've got Alli song' from the home fans which was a lovely touch but once he stepped on the pitch, his focus solely was on trying to create something for the visitors.
A task he failed to do on this occasion but this didn't mean that he was afraid to get stuck into the action and this was shown by a moment in the dying embers between himself and good pal Kane.
As Everton's number 36 tried to take initiative himself by charging towards the Tottenham penalty area, he was stopped by Spurs' number 9 who timed his sliding tackle brilliantly to cap off what was a man of the match display by the 28-year-old.
Despite the heavy defeat for Alli and co, he was all smiles at the full-time whistle as he embraced with some of his former teammates and the home fans showed their continued love to the former MK Dons academy graduate with more renditions of that aforementioned chant that we had heard during his seven year stay in the capital.
"It's the end of a chapter but not the book," Alli posted when he confirmed his deadline day move.
"Thank you all for the messages. I've had an incredible 7 years at Tottenham and have made some life long friends that now feel like family!
"I want to wish my brothers all the best for the rest of the season and more.
"To the fans, I want to say thank you. We've had some incredible moments together that will stay with me for the rest of my life and I will never forget the amazing support you have given me.
"Playing for you was a dream come true and you will always be in my heart.
"I want to give a special mention to Mauricio [Pochettino] and his staff for their trust and guidance in the early part of my career at spurs, which gave me the confidence and platform to show what I can do.
"I love you all and wish you the best for the future! Dele out."
