What Fernandinho told Pep Guardiola after decision to leave Man City

Fernandinho credited Pep Guardiola with reigniting his love for football in a meeting that has been shared by Manchester City.

Fernandinho called time on a glittering City career this summer after nine years at the Etihad, where he leaves as the club's most decorated player with 13 trophies.

The Brazilian was loved by players, staff and fans alike, but decided to allow his contract to expire and return to Brazil. Now, City have shared a trailer for a documentary following Fernandinho's final days at the City Football Academy, which includes interviews from directors and players as well as the former captain himself.

In the trailer, Fernandinho can be seen crying in the City changing room as he says on a voiceover: "Every footballer knows they have to leave their club one day but when it happens it still surprises you."

He is then shown in Guardiola's office as both are seen smiling, as he says to his manager: "You made me fall in love with football again."

There are also snippets of interviews with Gabriel Jesus, Vincent Kompany and Ederson, as well as director of football Txiki Begiristain, who said: "He became more than a player when he became captain."

Other previews show Fernandinho and his son - a ballboy at the Etihad - as well as an emotional moment where he takes the Premier League trophy to his father.

The trailer comes as reports in Brazil say Fernandinho will seal a two-year contract with former club Athletico Paranaense this week after his contract at City officially expires on June 30.
