Well, unfortunately, a defeat is a defeat. Especially when you find yourself at this end of the table, you get little recognition for the hard work and effort you put into matches such as this.
But Everton 's players went over to the away end after the match and they were roundly applauded by those who were still in their seats at that stage. In a lot respects, it was earned.

A lot of Blues supporters came into this match with a fair amount of trepidation. That's always the case at Anfield, but the current situation at the bottom of the table made that even worse. Burnley's result against Wolves only amplified those feelings, but we'll talk about that in more detail later on.

Frank Lampard explains what Everton must not do in relegation battle with Burnley
Frank Lampard has insisted Everton cannot get “caught up” in the results of relegation rivals.
The Blues started the Merseyside derby on Sunday in the bottom three after Burnley’s win over Wolves earlier in the afternoon. Lampard said he expected the Clarets to get a positive result and did not believe it changed anything in terms of his approach - before the defeat to Liverpool or in the coming weeks.
The Everton manager maintained his side must instead “absolutely focus on ourselves” as they look ahead to the six games that will decide their Premier League fate.
