What does AMC stand for in tennis and is it owned by Andy Murray?

Andy Murray's Wimbledon kit caught the eye of many tennis fans during Wimbledon 2023.

His white outfit was branded with AMC, something which many people will be unfamiliar with.

So, what does it stand for? Well, AMC is a collaboration between Andy Murray and sportswear brand Castore. So it translates to Andy Murray x Castore = AMC.

The partnership has been in place since 2019, and not long afterwards, the 36-year-old two-time Wimbledon champion became a shareholder in the business.

However, it's not an Andy Murray-exclusive kit. Fans can buy items from the collaboration themselves, but a simple white polo will set you back £60.

Here's how much some of the items cost:

  • White core active shorts - £40
  • Technical green training shorts - £55
  • Active colour block 1/4 zip - £68
  • Scuba colour block joggers - £65

The website says: "Fusing the respective brand ethos of Castore and Andy Murray, AMC delivers a new standard of tennis performance clothing. Built with a high-stretch, lightweight, and quick-drying fabric and specialist ergonomic panels to ensure that you never miss a serve. Engineered for both on and off the court, the AMC collection ensures that performance doesn’t stop when the match is over. Think comfort, think optimum performance, think AMC Performance Collection."
