What Crystal Palace and Bournemouth wins mean for West Ham and Premier League relegation battle

West Ham have dropped one place in the Premier League table - without even kicking a ball.

It has been a dramatic afternoon in the Premier League relegation battle that has impacted the Hammers without them playing, with David Moyes' side set to face bottom club Southampton to the London Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Saints are due to travel to the London Stadium to face the Hammers, with Southampton currently bottom of the table with 23 points from 28 games. But West Ham are now only one point and one place above their opponents, after Bournemouth moved out of the relegation zone with a 2-1 win against Fulham.

The Cherries came from a goal down to win 2-1 thanks to goals from Marcus Tavernier and Dominic Solanke, with Bournemouth moving up to 15th as a result.

There was also a crucial win for relegation rivals Crystal Palace, who also came from a goal down at home to beat Leicester City 2-1 at Selhurst Park, with Jean-Philippe Mateta scoring a 94th-minute winner for the Eagles to give the south London side their first win in the league since New Year's Eve.

That result moved Palace up to 30 points and five points clear of the relegation zone, with Leicester dropping into the bottom three, with 25 points from 28 games.

Elsewhere, it finished 1-1 between relegation rivals Nottingham Forest and Wolves at the City Ground, with Leeds United losing 4-1 against leaders Arsenal to leave them outside the bottom three on goal difference.

The results mean that West Ham and Southampton are now the bottom two in the league ahead of their meeting at the London Stadium, although the Hammers can move out of the relegation zone with a win, while Moyes' men would drop to the bottom of the table should Saints pick up all three points in the capital.
