A special guest in attendance
There was a special guest in attendance at Old Trafford on Saturday evening to watch Tottenham and Manchester United go head-to-head.
It was indeed NFL great Tom Brady, who recently retired from the sport after a glittering playing career where he won seven Super Bowl rings.
The former New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers legend is in fact Harry Kane's idol and the pair have struck up a friendship after meeting in the past.
Kane has made no secret of his love for American Football and has made it clear that he would one day like to take up the sport once his football career comes to an end.
Watching on from Old Trafford, Brady sent a message to Kane and Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of the game.
Don't give Ronaldo time
Ronaldo's place in the Manchester United team was a big talking point ahead of the match following his absence for last weekend's defeat at Man City.
Recovering from a hip flexor issue and returning to training ahead of the game, Ralf Rangnick restored the attacker to his XI as he led the line.
While there may be some questions regarding whether United are better with or without Ronaldo in the team, he silenced his critics early on with a stunning goal from distance.
It was a rocket of an effort from the former Real Madrid man and Hugo Lloris couldn't do anything to stop it.
However, the goal came after he was allowed so much time and space outside the box to get his shot off, with Eric Dier failing to close him down.
The decision ultimately proved costly as the Portuguese star netted in style.
It was very much the same for his third goal of the evening as he lost his marker and powerfully headed home past Lloris.
Amid some doubts over him since his return to Old Trafford, Ronaldo showed his class on a night that could prove very costly to Spurs' top-four hopes.
Kulusevski repeats Leeds heroics
Dejan Kulusevski has made quite the impact for Tottenham since his January deadline day transfer from Juventus.
Registering two goals and three assists prior to Saturday evening's trip to Old Trafford, the Swede had a big hand in Kane's equaliser from the spot at the Theatre of Dreams.
Not having much on down the right flank once in possession of the ball after United had failed to clear Dier's free-kick, the youngster managed to wriggle past Jadon Sancho and Ronaldo to get his cross in, which subsequently struck Alex Telles on the hand to give the referee no option but to point to the spot.
Kulusevski's piece of play had similarities to his goal at Leeds United two weeks ago as he appeared to have very little on in the corner before creating something out of nothing.
Wasted opportunities
Tottenham have been in amongst the goals recently with a total of 12 in their games against Man City, Leeds United and Everton.
With the aforementioned teams playing to Spurs' strengths and leaving some gaping holes in behind, Conte's men were always going to create chances at Old Trafford.
That was very much the case throughout, with Ben Davies seeing a first-half strike ruled out for offside, Dier having a header cleared off the line and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Rodrigo Bentancur seeing shots blocked.
Despite the fact they were trailing at the break, the Lilywhites really could have gone in level given the amount of openings they created in the first 45 minutes.
Their failings in front of goal will no doubt have frustrated Conte and again the same happened after the break, with Son Heung-min shooting wide in a good position after some good play between Kane and Kulusevski.
They really need to start taking their chances if they are going to move up the table.
What Romero did after equaliser
Having wasted some good openings throughout, Spurs duly restored parity with 18 minutes remaining on the clock following a Harry Maguire own goal.
Sergio Reguilon was looking to pick out Cristian Romero in the box but the England international inadvertently turned the ball into his own net.
It was perhaps a good thing Maguire converted beyond David de Gea as Romero did appear to be in an offside position.
A player who has shown in recent weeks that he will get in the face of his opponents and speak his thoughts, the Argentina international did exactly that when Maguire was on the ground seconds after converting.
Bending down so he was level with the centre-back, Romero shouted in his face before running back to his own half and getting back into place.
United had the last laugh, though, with Ronaldo completing his hat-trick to seal all three points.
