Romelu Lukaku (Inter Milan)

Lukaku was on target in Inter’s 4-2 home-friendly defeat by Villarreal.

Villarreal took the lead through Alfonso Pedraza before Lukaku headed home an Inter equaliser, aided by poor keeping from Geronimo Rulli.

Francis Coquelin restored the Spanish side’s advantage, and Pedraza made it 3-1.

Danilo D’Ambrosio pulled one back, but Nicolas Jackson completed the win for Villarreal in the 81st minute.

Lukaku was replaced in the 69th minute by Edin Dzeko.

Lucas Bergstrom (Peterborough United)

Having only made his senior debut the previous week, Bergstrom retained his place as Posh secured a comprehensive 3-0 victory over Morecambe in League One.

Peterborough took a ninth-minute lead, but it needed a crucial save from the young goalkeeper shortly afterwards to maintain their advantage.

Ben Thompson added a second for Peterborough in the 43rd minute, and Hector Kyprianou wrapped up the points midway through the second half to send Peterborough to the top of the table.

Jamie Cumming, Henry Lawrence (both MK Dons)

Cumming ensured a frustrating afternoon for MK Dons, who went down to a controversial Josh Windass penalty at home to Sheffield Wednesday.

Windass appeared to have been fouled outside the area but was in no mood to dispute the award, picking himself up to beat Cummings from the spot.

Cumming made a big save shortly before half-time to deny Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, but despite the home side creating several chances, they were unable to get back on level terms.

Henry Lawrence was an unused substitute for the Dons.

They both played the whole match in a 1-0 win in the Carabao Cup keeping a clean sheet that MK Dons fans are use to seeing from Cummings first stint with the club last season.

Ethan Wady (Woking)

Goalkeeper Wady was an unused substitute as Woking kicked off their National League campaign with a 2-0 defeat at York City.

Sam McClelland (Barrow)

Sam McClelland came off the bench in the 15th minute to replace an injured George Ray and played his part in a League Two thriller at Holker Street.

Barrow and Bradford exchanged quick-fire goals on the hour-mark before McClelland got his head to a corner, allowing Josh Kay to force the ball home with five minutes remaining. Bradford looked to have rescued a point in the fifth minute of injury time, only for Barrow to seal a 3-2 win thanks to Josh Gordon’s 96th-minute finish.

Gabriel Slonina (Chicago Fire)

Eighteen-year-old keeper Slonina, who will join up with Chelsea in January, was involved in a thrilling 3-2 victory for Chicago Fire at Charlotte.

Yorsy Reyna scored inside the first minute for Charlotte, but two goals from Kacper Przybylko helped Fire hit back to secure back-to-back away wins for the first time since 2013.

Nathan Baxter (Hull City)

Baxter has sat out the Tigers’ opening two Championship games after dislocating a finger in pre-season.

Prince Adegoke (Welling United)

Adegoke had to watch from the bench as Welling opened their National League South campaign with a goalless draw at Taunton Town.

Anjorin made his first start of the season for Huddersfield Town on Friday evening after catching the eye from the bench in the Terriers’ opening-day loss to Burnley.

However, he had a frustrating time as Town went down 2-1 to Birmingham City.

He came on at 4-0 down in the Carabao Cup last night to help pull a goal back with an assist.

Ian Maatsen (Burnley)

A standout performer in Burnley’s opening-day win over Huddersfield, Maatsen was unable to get as high up the pitch in their 1-1 draw against Luton, with the visitors sitting deep.

He was much more advanced after the break, seeing plenty of the ball and was just off-target with a number of efforts from distance.

Levi Colwill (Brighton)

Colwill enjoyed a debut to remember for Brighton, coming on for Solly March in the dying embers of the Seagulls’ 2-1 win at Manchester United.
