What Chelsea have done as pressure on Todd Boehly to sack Graham Potter increases

Not a moment passes without somebody, somewhere writing about or speaking about Graham Potter's future as Chelsea head coach. The former Brighton boss is under serious pressure at Stamford Bridge, with just one win in his last 11 matches in charge.

New owner Todd Boehly is getting opinions left, right and centre about what to do with Potter. For now though, Potter's job is safe.

football.london understands Potter has the backing of Boehly and the board, but by the head coach's own admission, that will not last forever. Speaking after the defeat to Tottenham on Sunday, Potter said: "If results aren't good enough, which they aren't at the moment, you can't rely on support forever."

Chelsea face four crucial games against teams below them in the Premier League table, before a run of matches against teams above them in the table to end the season. There is also the small matter of the Champions League last-16 second leg clash with Borussia Dortmund to encounter next week, with the Blues 1-0 down from the first leg.

While Potter has the support of the board at Stamford Bridge, there is a growing concern about the supporter backlash around what is happening on the pitch.

Boehly will not want to have the supporters turn against him. And, whether it is just coincidence that it has happened at a time when the head coach is under intense pressure, or whether it has been in the pipeline for some time, Chelsea have made a decision to open a Fan Advisory Board.

As revealed on the club's official website "the FAB is an initiative to help fulfil our promise to be pioneers in fan engagement". The Blues are inviting applications from supporters to be part of the new board that will focus on the club’s "strategic vision and objectives, as well as medium and long-term decision making"

The FAB will be made up of six supporters, with three places reserved for the club's Supporter Advisors to the Board. Three more positions will be decided by an application process.

If there were to be a meeting now - three are planned per year - the future of Potter would be high on the agenda.
