Manchester City are two games away from reaching their second consecutive UEFA Champions League final but they must face the tough task of overcoming Real Madrid in order to get their first, beginning with Tuesday’s semi-final first leg.
But the La Liga outfit are looking to restore their perch at the top of European football for the first time since 2018 and will be City’s toughest test yet, while Los Blancos already knocked out Chelsea in the previous round.
The hosts are coming off the back of a 5-1 defeat of Watford on Saturday to remain at the top of the Premier League, while the visitors haven’t played since last Wednesday’s 3-1 win against Osasuna.
When is Man City vs Real Madrid?
Man City vs Real Madrid will kick-off at 8pm on Tuesday, April 26 at the Etihad Stadium.
The last meeting between these two sides came in the same competition back in August 2020, when Man City defeated their visitors 2-1 in the second leg of their last 16 tie to secure a 4-2 aggregate win.
Raheem Sterling put the hosts in front after just nine minutes, before Karim Benzema equalised just before the half hour mark, but a 68th minute strike from Gabriel Jesus ensured City would progress to the quarter-finals.

Team news
Pep Guardiola will be hoping to make the most of home advantage in the first leg and an attacking side can be expected to lineup here, although the Spaniard will be sweating over the fitness of two players ahead of this tie.
Both Kyle Walker (ankle) and John Stones missed out on Saturday’s victory against Watford, although it is thought to be for precautionary reasons to ensure they are fit and ready for tonight’s visit of Madrid, so a return for the pair can be expected, but Joao Cancelo misses out through suspension.
As for the visitors, Carlo Ancelotti’s side will be feeling refreshed after having the weekend off but Los Blancos have a number of injury concerns to contend with ahead of their trip to the Etihad.
David Alaba (thigh) joined Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Mariano Diaz, Casemiro and Ferland Mendy in the treatment room following Wednesday’s 3-1 victory over Osasuna, while Toni Kroos and Marcelo should return to action. Eder Militao also returns from suspension.
