Since the 2012 London Olympics, bright red cable cars sponsored by Emirates have adorned the sky between North Greenwich and the Royal Docks.
The £60 million gondola line offers Transport for London (TfL) customers a leisurely journey across the river as well as mesmerising views of the capital.
But, with Emirates’ sponsorship expiring, the name and look of the cable car have changed.
Here’s everything we know.
What changes have been made to the TfL cable cars?
Emirates had sponsored the cable cars for the past 10 years, paying TfL £3.6 million a year.
However, its contract ended on June 28, 2022, leaving the cars without a sponsor.
Despite Transport for London being willing to discount the sponsorship fee by a considerable amount, it failed to agree another deal with Emirates.
In September, it was announced that technology company IFS would be the new sponsor and pay TfL £420,000 per year for five years.
IFS is a software company that is headquartered in Linköping, Sweden.
The TfL cable cars will now be rebranded as IFS Cloud Cable Cars and sport a purple look with cloud motifs.

The cable car terminals will also be renamed as “IFS Cloud Greenwich Peninsula” and “IFS Cloud Royal Docks”.
Trips across the river will still cost the same with adults paying £5 and children’s tickets going for £2.50.
Talking about the partnership, TfL’s Head of the IFS Cloud Cable Car, Josh Crompton, said: “This sponsorship ensures the IFS Cloud Cable Car continues to go from strength to strength, giving many more the opportunity to enjoy the spectacular views from high above the River Thames.
“The partnership with IFS is really exciting, helping to deliver new ideas and initiatives for everyone to enjoy and secure its place as a must-visit UK attraction.’”
IFS’s Chief Marketing Officer, Oliver Pilgerstorfer, added: “We are proud to be working with TfL to modernise and transform one of London’s most unique and sustainable modes of transport.
“The IFS Cloud Cable Car will serve as a great platform for our brand and will enable us to engage with visitors and Londoners alike. In addition, IFS software is behind the construction and running of the IFS Cloud Cable Car, which makes for a truly authentic partnership.”
