What Brazilian midfielder Danilo is doing amid Arsenal transfer interest as Chelsea claim made

Reported Arsenal target Danilo has admitted that he has started to take English lessons to improve his grasp of the language.

The Gunners are set for another busy transfer window, with technical director Edu keen to sign at least one striker, a central midfielder and a backup fullback, football.london understands. Mikel Arteta's side are particularly light in the middle of the park, especially if Egyptian international Mohamed Elneny leaves in six weeks when his contract is due to expire.

One midfielder that has been linked with a switch to the Emirates Stadium is Brazilian youngster Danilo, who is currently plying his trade with Palmeiras. And the 21-year-old has now admitted that he is trying to learn English before he leaves the Verdao.

“They told me: ‘You’ll have a good season and, when the time comes, you’ll leave,'” he told UOL Esporte. "'How are you going to talk, are you going to communicate with the coach?

“How is he going to talk to you, how will you understand?' And I thought and said: ‘Wow, that’s right’. Then I started studying it.”

Danilo's teammate Dudu has previously told the talented youngster to make the move to the Premier League, even naming Arsenal as a potential destination. “He is a star, he has to play in the Premier League,” he told ESPN, via Goal earlier this year.

“I always tell him: ‘You have to play in Manchester United, or Arsenal. He has to stay calm, he is a kid who gives his all, but I tell him: ‘You are a player for Chelsea, those kind of teams’.

“He scores, he gets in the area, he helps with marking. He’s a complete midfielder in Brazilian football.”
