'What a player' - Tim Sherwood left stunned by impact of Liverpool star in Norwich win

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood has hailed the 'magnificent' performance of Luis Diaz during Liverpool's 3-1 win over Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.

Joined by Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane in attack, Diaz helped Jurgen Klopp's side turn the game on its head by scoring his first goal for the club in style.

Played through on goal by Jordan Henderson, the Colombian controlled the ball before dinking over Norwich keeper Angus Gunn to put Liverpool into a 3-1 lead.

The Reds' January recruit has settled in well since moving to Merseyside from Porto last month and will be eager to continue contributing in the final third as the important fixtures just keep on coming.

Transitioning from other European divisions to the Premier League is a process that can often take months for certain players, though Diaz has hit the ground running and is already earning recognition for his impressive adaptation.

Sherwood has become the latest pundit to heap praise on the 25-year-old and is backing him for a bright future at Anfield.

"Luis Diaz, what a player this kid is. I mean, absolutely fantastic,” Sherwood said on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday during today's triumph over the Canaries.

“Luis Diaz has been the best player on the pitch," he added.

"Out of possession he gets it back as quick as possible, in possession he’s absolutely magnificent. Absolutely fantastic.”

Making Diaz's contribution all the more impressive was the manner in which his goal was scored, having found the back of the net following a sequence of 34 uninterrupted passes.

According to data from Opta, this is the longest build-up of any Premier League strike this season and the most of any Liverpool goal since data became available in the competition (from 2006-07).

A good day for the Reds got even better when leaders Manchester City lost 3-2 at home to Tottenham Hotspur in the Saturday evening kick off.
