Renovations to a popular Wetherspoon pub have been delayed and it will not open until next year.
The Master Mariner in New Brighton planned to reopen on Tuesday, August 30 following a huge expansion, that was set to make the pub 50 per cent bigger. But the date was delayed after the "existing pub was in a poor state and as a result the project needs to be reviewed ".
The project was put on hold while the pub giant reviewed "all options for taking the project forward" due to the condition of the former Lacy's Bar building. Wetherspoon have now confirmed that the project had resumed, however, it would not confirm a reopening date.

The seaside pub opened in 2013 in buildings previously occupied by Rjs and the Playas Lounge nightclubs. At the time, Wetherspoon was slammed for not using the former Lacy's Bar site after buying it in 2015.
In a statement, Wetherspoon spokesperson Eddie Gershon said: "Works have recommenced to demolish the Lacey’s building and this should complete in January.
"Wetherspoon has a planning application in for the rebuild of a single story extension with garden. The company does not have any dates as yet for the reopening of the pub."
