Wetherspoons punters banned from using app after 'ordering lots of stupid stuff'

A group of Wetherspoons customers have been banned from using the mobile app 'for ordering lots of stupid stuff'.

Dave Marshall, who goes by Chef Dave on social media, posted a video of himself ordering numerous drinks at his local boozer.

The clip has since gone viral, and the drinkers hit with backlash as social media users were left divided over what they were doing, reports the DailyStar.

In the video he shared on Instagram, Dave captioned the post: "Amazing job @wetherspoonsofficial @ukwetherspoons Take our money but refuse to give us the food and drinks and no refund…"

The video begins with Dave panning over to one of the staff members, as they cut off any more orders the group have been ordering.

The bar staff member can be heard saying: "Any orders that come through, we're not going to refund and they won't be brought up.

Dave and other members of the group can then be heard questioning: "Why won't you refund them?"

And the member of staff tells the group: "We've already told you to stop,' as she adds: "You're ordering stupid stuff."

Dave then chimed in: "How many drinks have come through? Can we get a refund?"

Some people were on Dave's side, as one person said: 'Get the lawyers involved, Dave' (chef_dave11/Instagram)

She clarified the rules, explaining: "From this point onwards if any more orders come through you won't be getting any refunds."

"What am I supposed to do? Not drink?" asked the outraged drinker.

The waitress left the patio and headed back inside and Dave flipped the camera to himself and said: "We're getting b*******d.

"F*****g jobsworths, we're in Wetherspoons, just had a few drinks, boooo."

However, viewers on social media have been left divided by the groups actions, as some people have said that the worker was not in the wrong.

However, others have said that Dave and his group of friends should have been entitled to all of the drinks they purchased, regardless if they were 'silly' or not.

One person commented on Instagram: "I think they are entitled to stop serving them if they decide they are being a problem...she’s telling them not to order anymore."

Another reasoned: "She's saying she's not gonna refund what they've already consumed, but won't serve them any more.

"People, yes businesses want to make more money but resources are not infinite."

But other social media users were on Dave's side.

One person said: "Get the lawyers involved, Dave."

While a second added: "Since when is it illegal to buy too many drinks."

In response to the incident, Wetherspoons told The Mirror: "The pub’s management decided not to allow a group of customers to order any further drinks.

"This was explained politely to the customers with the explanation that any orders via the company’s app after that point would not be refunded .

"This is in accordance with the company’s policy and we fully support the pub's approach."
