Wetherspoon has introduced a new range of refreshing summer cocktails but not all of them are tickling the taste buds of drinkers... in fact one has left some horrified. The pub chain has recently had a nationwide menu change with prices rising by 7.5 per cent.
A new 'signature cocktail' has set tongues wagging. Called the Bubbletiser, the £5.94 drink consists of vodka bubblegum, bubblegum syrup, apple juice and lemonade, plus a lemon garnish.
Fans of 'Spoons have taken to social media to voice their opinions. @tash_wynarczyk tweeted: “[I] regret to inform everyone that Wetherspoons is now serving the worst drink in the world.”

Replying to the tweet @SaskiaODonoghue exclaimed “CLOSE IT DOWN” while @emjeancox said “Oh NO absolutely not.” The ingredients of the cocktail have left people questioning how the flavours work together
DaBooch425 shared a snap of the menu on Reddit, captioned: “Can we all agree these are some of the worst looking signature cocktails out there?”
Reddit user 99burritos said “I'm kind of impressed with how bad this is,” while SaladGold8498 commented: “The name Bubbleteizer (sic) legit made me gasp,” as it seems to be a play on an Appletiser.
SoyFurioso also had a problem with the sweet cocktail saying “My biggest issue is the name bubbletiser.”
Violet624 wrote “Really curious how apple and bubblegum go together,” while user BrokeAs*Brewer said “[what] is bubble gum syrup.”
Someone who appears to work at one of the Wetherspoons chains seemed to offer an explanation for the new addition to the menu, reports the Manchester Evening News. They said while “the Bubbletiser sounds rank” it “isn’t too awful.”
“This is a trial menu being put out across Wetherspoon pubs in the UK. All of the signature cocktails are from what we already had behind the bar that we weren't selling enough of.
“They've been trialled in around 100 pubs and are being rolled out across the estate over the coming months... I've tried pretty much all of the new drinks on the new menu. Nothing is terrible, but it's very basic.
“The main pull is the price compared to other cocktail bars. For example my pub is next door to a cocktail bar that charges £9/10 per drink so the students are going to come to ours instead,” brynnylegend wrote on Reddit.
However, others were extremely interested to find out what the new concoction would taste like. @Rebeccadlloyd tweeted “Wth, that actually sounds great!” and @David_Chippa joked “Horrific. I’ll have three.”
Wetherspoons have been contacted for comment.
